ATL introduces smart hotel concept

A smart hotel concept is being promoted in Jamaica with the introduction of a cutting-edge content management software which is now offered on the local market by Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) in partnership with Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company.

The solution was presented to stakeholders in the hotel industry last Tuesday at the Holiday Sunspree Resort in Rose Hall, St James.

“The hotel has a lot of possibilities on how they can connect with their guests, and that opens the door for the hotel to increase their revenue, because now they are able to communicate and interact with that customer on a whole new level,” Javeir Corrales, solutions consultant, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, told the Jamaica Observer.

“They can promote things that they offer like the spa, things they usually need a brochure to find out, you have to call the lobby to find out, but now you can just pick up your app through your phones.”

Danville Walker, managing director of ATL, was also confident the solution would revolutionise communication in the hospitality industry.

It will be an exciting development — how the hotel industry manages the client experience that it is going to deliver. We will be working closely with our partners at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and look forward to offering you solutions that cause you to be more efficient and deliver the client experience that your customers are looking for,” he promised.

The hotel stakeholders among the evening’s gathering were informed that the idea behind the smart hotel is to empower the hospitality industry with technology so that they can take advantage of a mobile first approach to how they connect their guests to the offerings of the hotel.

For instance, with a solution called Meridian, guests are able to connect to the WiFi on the hotel and receive information to be able to easily navigate through the hotel’s property.

So, by doing this, the guests can guide themselves through the different places of the hotel without having to rely on someone for that. They can just rely on their device,” Corrales explained.

He revealed that the application is also capable of pushing notifications from the hotel, allows guests to locate and communicate with each other, among other things.

But he was also quick to point out that internationally, the solution is not only utilised in the hospitality sector, but among other industries such as health care, hospitals, shopping malls and “in the retail industry”.

We have customers in many different verticals where we have deployed these solutions. Of course, hospitality is one of the main ones and as we saw in tonight’s (Tuesday) presentation, many of the main hotel chains worldwide have deployed this application,” Corrales pointed out.
